Open plan kitchen extension with window seat

Introducing a Contemporary Extension to a Character Building: A Perfect Blend of Modern and Traditional Architecture Happy Building, in collaboration with renowned architects Fletcher and Crane, has undertaken a remarkable refurbishment and extension project that breathes new life into an existing ground floor and creates a stunning open plan kitchen and living area with the addition of a contemporary single storey extension.

Adding a contemporary extension to a character building can have a dramatic impact, but it requires careful design, detailing, and construction. The result is a modern, family home that combines old and new to introduce exciting, modern architecture while still respecting the original building. The front of the house has retained its character charm, with a full refurbishment of the traditional entrance hall, staircase, and living room.

New joinery, a refurbished WC, and a simple yet elegant utility room have modernised the ground floor and created a seamless transition to the modern rear extension. Featuring a stunning window seat, modern kitchen, and sunken seating area, the modern extension draws you through to the landscaped garden. Architectural feature glazing showcases a modern facade that blends traditional and modern materials against the original house. The careful attention to detail and exceptional design and construction have resulted in a contemporary extension that perfectly complements the original building, creating a modern and welcoming family home.

In summary, Happy Building's project is an excellent example of how a contemporary addition to a character building can be designed and executed to create a stunning home. The incorporation of traditional and modern elements seamlessly produces a unique and attractive living space.

We continually strive to improve and show quality. As such, this project has been through the rigorous examination process Which? RISA Inspection. In addition, the project has also been shortlisted for the Federation of Master Builders Best Extension of the Year Award.
